New Photos Of David Tennant In Spies Of Warsaw




Polish site wirtualnemedia have some new photos of David Tennant in his new drama series Spies Of Warsaw.

TVP1 begins broadcasting "Spies of Warsaw." The Polish-British historical miniseries can be seen on Friday nights starting from 11 January 2013.

- This is an historic moment – TVP1, the largest broadcaster in the country and the BBC, the most well-known public broadcaster in Europe with the highest standards of quality and ethics, have carried out a first joint project with this feature - says Juliusz Braun, president of TVP, of the project.

"Spies of Warsaw" takes place in 1937, and is the story of the French, German, Polish and Russian agents, who in the face of impending war, are caught up in an espionage fight to the death.

Colonel Jean-Francois Mercier (David Tennant), officially the new military attaché at the French Embassy in Warsaw, and additionally a French intelligence agent, delves into the world of abduction, betrayal and intrigue to the diplomatic salons and back alleys of cities. In Warsaw Mercier is working with Antoni Pakulski (Marcin Dorociński), a Polish intelligence officer, his commander in 1920, when the two fought in the Polish-Bolshevik war. Leading this double life Mercier further complicates matters when he meets Anna Skarbek (Janet Montgomery), a beautiful Parisian woman of Polish origin and a lawyer for the League of Nations, who is at that time involved with a Russian human rights journalist.

The cast of the drama also includes Miroslaw Zbrojewicz, Ann Eleonora Jørgensen, Anton Lesser, Burn Gorman, Tuppence Middleton and Julian Harries. The screenplay was based on the book by Alan Furst of the same title, and adapted by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. The four part production is directed by Coky Giedroyc. TVP has co-produced the series with the BBC, which will air it on BBC4 in January next year.



Spies Of Warsaw begins in the UK on Wednesday 9th January 2013 on BBC Four, in Poland on TVP1 on Friday 11th January and on BBC America in February. Dates for France and Australia, where broadcast is also confirmed, have yet to be announced.
