Nativity 2's Success Gets Nativity 3 The Go Ahead

The Birmingham Mail reports that the success of Nativity 2 Danger In The Manger has led to film distributor Entertainment One giving the go ahead for Nativity 3!
Nativity 2, which stars David Tennant as an anxious teacher who starts a new job at an under-achieving school and quickly finds himself struggling to cope with a wild classroom assistant (Marc Wootton) before becoming embroiled in a madcap plan to enter a National ‘Song for Christmas’ Competition was a big hit at the UK Box Office during the Christmas period taking over £5 Million in a month.

Earlier this month, the film had surged ahead of the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, and was keeping pace with the second-placed big budget animation Rise of the Guardians 3D, behind first place Box Office giant The Hobbit.
Nativity 2 has taken three times as much as the latest adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations.
It's also out sold other big-name Hollywood movies like Argo, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, and Silver Linings Playbook, with Robert De Niro and has also taken more than Jake Gyllenhaal’s End of Watch and Seven Psychopaths, featuring Colin Farrell, put together.
Speaking to The Birmingham Mail, writer and director, Debbie Isitt said:
“As an independent, low-budget filmmaker who uses improvisation with young children, I could not be more thrilled about the chance to make a trilogy. It’s really brilliant news. This proves people really like Christmas films and youngsters like to see people like themselves on screen, not just big budget 3D blockbuster animations. I used to take my daughter, Sydney, to see films like those and it gave me an instinct for what children really wanted. To then be asked by a major distributor like Entertainment One if I wouldn’t mind making another film is a tremendous position for a British filmmaker to be in.”
Debbie also says that although she's not sure of her plot lines yet she's keen to get both David Tennant and Nativity! star Martin Freeman on board for Nativity 3!
“I don’t know what the story will be or who will be in it yet, but I would hope to get Mr Maddens (Martin Freeman) back to meet Mr Peterson (David Tennant).”
Debbie is  currently directing an ITV1 drama called Love & Marriage and will then direct her own script for Belly Dance, about women going belly dancing in Turkey. If all goes to plan, Nativity 3 will shoot next winter for release in the late autumn of 2014.
