David Tennant's moving Red Nose Day appeal film was shown during Comic Relief's Big Chat with Graham Norton tonight. David visited Uganda in autumn 2010 to make the film for the 2011 appeal.
In the film, David appeals from a hospital crowded with dying and desperately sick children, many of whom are suffering from malaria. He begs the viewer not to be that person who puts off donating to the campaign
Malaria is a disease that kills a child every 60 seconds. 90% of the world's malaria deaths occur in Africa, yet the disease is easily and cheaply prevented and treated. Nets can prevent bites from mosquitos which carry the parasite, and the disease can be treated using testing kits for diagnosis and medicines. Comic Relief, through the Red Nose Day and Sport Relief appeals funds projects in the UK and abroad, including anti-malaria schemes throughout Africa

Graham Norton is currently taking part in a six-hour chat extravaganza to raise funds for the 2013 appeal, with special guests including Martin Freeman, Paloma Faith, Keith Lemon and Jimmy Carr. Red Nose Day 2013 takes place on Friday 15th March, with the televised appeal beginning at 7pm on BBC One. David will be joining Jonathan Ross and Jack Whitehall from 11.05pm to present a section of the show.
