Broadchurch Presented To International TV Market At MIPTV

Shine International will be presenting the eight part drama series Broadchurch onto the international TV market at MIPTV in Cannes next week. The murder mystery series starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman is a major focus for Shine's sales remit this year, says company CEO Nadine Nohr. MIPTV, now in its 50th year is a major tradeshow gathering major figures from all over the TV ecosystem, allowing international broadcasters to discover and acquire new content for all platforms.

“Shine International’s programming captures the hearts and imaginations of millions of viewers, everyday, in over 200 territories,” Nadine Nohr says. “At MIPTV we will be launching our largest catalogue of new and returning commissions to date—network commissions and high-profile productions from an array of TV’s most-trusted and exciting program-makers.”

In January it was announced that Broadchurch has already been snapped up by BBC America for broadcast later this year. The presentation at MIPTV increases the likelihood that it will increase its international reach to other countries.

A second drama starring David Tennant, BBC thriller The Escape Artist will also be presented at MIPTV as part of the Red Arrow International catalogue. The Escape Artist is expected to première in the UK this autumn.

Furthermore Spies Of Warsaw starring David Tennant and Janet Montgomery will be examined as one of a number of Co-Production Case Studies as part of the Conferences and Events programme. The presentation will be fronted by representatives from BBC Worldwide and Fresh Pictures, and Poland's TVP and Apple Film production.

MIPTV takes place in Cannes from the 8th to 11th April.
