More International Sales Announced For Broadchurch



Broadchurch, the award-winning crime drama produced by Kudos for ITV, has been sold to further international broadcasters, the show's distributor reports.

Shine International say that they have now sold the series to 100 territories. The latest deals struck include Africa (M-NET), China (Youku), Israel (Hot TV) and Iceland (365 Media). The eight part drama stars David Tennant, Olivia Colman and Arthur Darvill and was created by Chris Chibnall. It explores the impact of the murder of a young boy on a small English seaside town.

Broadchurch has already been international acclaim following its UK debut in March this year. So far it has aired the the USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Russia and Sweden. It is currently screening in Latin America, Finland and Belgium and will soon be coming to New Zealand, France, Germany and Spain.

The news was announced at the MIPCOM festival, currently taking place in Cannes

Filming begins early next year on FOX's own version of Broadchurch  for the USA. Chris Chibnall will executive produce and has written the first episode while David Tennant has been confirmed as the lead detective in a role similar to that of DI Hardy. In the UK, Kudos will produce a second series of Broadchurch for ITV with filming beginning next spring. No cast or plot details have been confirmed so far.
