David Tennant And Shane Richie In Absolute Radio Zombie Panto: More Casting And Filming Details

Our friends at Absolute Radio have sent us a bit more information about their spectacular Christmas Panto. They also share the great news that a filmed version of the event will be available online shortly after the performance.

Absolute Radio say:

David Tennant, one of Britain’s most popular actors, has agreed to take on a challenging new role as the lead in Absolute Radio’s celebrity panto “Zombie Claus”.

The Scottish star, best known for tackling monsters in Doctor Who and catching criminals in Broadchurch, will appear in full “Zombie Claus” costume alongside breakfast show host Christian O’Connell (starring as “Elf”) for the one-off performance which is being broadcast live across the UK on Absolute Radio from the Soho Theatre in London.

The panto-with-a-dark-twist will also feature Eastenders star and comedian Shane Richie as “Buttons”. Shane is loved by millions of soap fans and is currently featuring in one of the show’s main storylines after his character Alfie reunited with Kat Slater.

Absolute Radio presenters will take on the remaining roles including breakfast show co-presenter Richie Firth, Travel presenter Maggie Doyle and Newsreader Andrew Bailey.

The panto is set in the North Pole where Santa Claus mysteriously contracts a zombie virus and goes on the rampage – nobody is safe from his hungry jaws – but will the elves find a cure before Christmas Eve?

The hunt is now on for listeners to help with the set, costumes, special effects make-up and a large number of prosthetic limbs to ensure the final Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show of 2013 goes out with a bang.

Award-winning Absolute Radio Breakfast Show presenter Christian O’Connell said, “We’ve had some amazing guest stars in previous breakfast show pantos, but none of them were available this year, so I just hope David Tennant and Shane Richie are up to the job.”

The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show “Zombie Claus” will be broadcast live from the Soho Theatre across the UK on Friday 20th December at 8:00am on Absolute Radio. It will also be filmed and made available for viewing at www.absoluteradio.co.uk later the same day.

Listeners can hear the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show every weekday morning from 6:00am until 10:00am on 105.8FM in London and the South-East, nationally on DAB or 1215AM as well as mobile apps and digital TV and online.
