Broadchurch's Chris Chibnall On David Tennant's Involvement In Series 2

Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall has been speaking to Radio Times at their covers party about the possible inclusion or exclusion of David Tennant's character, Alec Hardy, in the eagerly anticipated second series of the thrilling drama.
David had previously stated that due to his character's ill health he was concerned that he might not be asked back for the second series of the hit show and Chris did little to ease David's or his fan's worries that this could be the case when he told the Radio Times:

""He's right to be worried. He's a king on the stage, he's off doing an American show right now, I believe. He's got a lot on his plate."
Chris also commented on the state of Alec's health: "David’s very busy and Alec Hardy, at the end of series one, he was fired from the police, he had a heart problem – I don’t see how you come back. How would that happen?"

We're pretty sure that if anyone can find a way round Alec's predicament it would be Chris and personally we're hoping there's a few red herrings swimming about...
