Following the success of last year’s Easter event, the Doctor Who Experience will be hosting the ‘Monster Family Day Out’ on Wednesday 16th April 2014.
Packed full of exciting monster activities from prosthetic demos to Who challenges, the day has something for everyone to enjoy:
Monster makeover
Learn the secrets and techniques from the masters who work on Doctor Who! With five workshops throughout the day, an artist and the Special Effects producer from the award winning special make-up and Prosthetic company Millennium FX will create a monster makeover right before your very eyes....Not to be missed, make sure you hang around until the end of the day to see the completed monster!
The Vortex Challenge
How well do you know Doctor Who? Step into the time vortex and test your Time Lord knowledge. With five prizes up for grabs, will you be crowned the ultimate Doctor Who fan?
Monster Mash
Think you can create a monster as dangerous as the Daleks or as chilling as the Cybermen? Create your own terrifying Doctor Who alien in our exciting and laugh-packed workshops!
Special guest Cavan Scott, co-author of the Sunday Times Bestseller, Doctor Who Who-ology and has written numerous Doctor Who books, audio dramas, short stories and comics will be hosting the Vortex Challenge and Monster Mash workshops.
Monster miniatures
Doctor Who Visual Effects Designer Mike Tucker will be revealing the secrets behind how scenes are filmed on the screen with an incredible display of Doctor Who models, including the Dalek Emperor miniature build for the 9th Doctor finale, 'The Parting of the Ways'.
Special guest Mike Tucker is the Visual Effects Designer in charge of The Model Unit - a VFX company that provides miniature effects for TV and film. The Model Unit's work on the anniversary episode has just been nominated for a BAFTA.
In addition to his VFX work, Mike has written several Doctor Who novels, including ''The Nightmare of Black Island', ' The Silurian Gift' an 'Illegal Alien', recently republished by BBC Books.
Silence Spaceship
With the Silence wiping your memory you might need to get Get the chance to have your photo taken with a creepy Silent on the Silence spaceship itself!
Eggs-terminate station and Cyber conversion
Create your own scary monster eggs to take home with the help of our Who hosts!
PLUS watch out for the Daleks...they will exterrrrminate anyone in their path!
