Austrian broadcasters Puls 4 will be showing two episodes of the
thrilling crime drama Broadchurch tonight. The UK series follows the investigation into the murder of a child in a small seaside town and the effect of the shocking event on the community. As the series passes the halfway stage, Detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller (David Tennant and Olivia Colman) are no closer to catching the killer.

Verleumdung
Statt Antworten zu finden, stoßen Alec Hardy und Ellie
Miller auf immer mehr Fragen: Warum hatte Danny zwei Handys? Mit wem hat er
zuletzt telefoniert? Stammt das Geld, das in Dannys Zimmer gefunden wurde, von
dem vorbestraften Jack Marshall? Dieser findet sein Gesicht kurz darauf auf der
Titelseite des Herald wieder. Die öffentliche Verleumdung schürt das Misstrauen
in Broadchurch und befeuert die Presse, mehr Details über die Vergangenheit des
ehemaligen Lehrers herauszufinden.

Zusammenbruch
Jack ist tot. Nach dem Suizid des verleumdeten
Zeitschriftenhändlers stehen die Bewohner von Broadchurch unter Schock und Alec
Hardy gilt als schlechtester Polizist Englands, weil er ihn nicht geschützt
hat. Der Detective, der immer öfter kollabiert, nimmt derweil Paul ins Visier:
Der Pfarrer ist trockener Alkoholiker und hat engen Kontakt zu den Kindern der
Gemeinde. Beth lernt Cate Gillespie kennen, deren Kind ebenfalls getötet wurde
und die keine gute Meinung von Hardy hat.

Defamation
Instead of finding answers, Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller
encounter more and more questions: Why did Danny have two phones? Who did he last call? Did the money that was found in Danny's room come from the previously convicted Jack Marshall? The latter finds his face shortly afterwards on the front page
of the Herald again. The public calumny fuels mistrust in Broadchurch and
fires up the press into finding out more details about the former teacher's past.

Collapse
Jack is dead. After the suicide following the slandering of the newsagent the residents of Broadchurch are in shock and Alec Hardy is named as the
worst police officer in England because he failed to protect him. The detective, who is collapsing more often, meanwhile takes Paul to task : the pastor is
recovering alcoholic who has close contact with the children of the community.
Beth meets Cate Gillespie whose child was also killed, and who takes a dim
view of Hardy.
