Gracepoint Star Jacki Weaver Confirms The Show Will Have A Different Killer

Australian star Jacki Weaver, who plays mysterious outsider Susan Wright in the new Fox TV drama Gracepoint, has confirmed that the series will have a different killer.

Fans of the original series Broadchurch upon which Gracepoint is based have been questioning the need for the remake when the ending was already known. However cast and creatives including writer Chris Chibnall, former Fox head Kevin Reilly, showrunner Dan Futterman and star David Tennant have all previously stated that the show will have a different ending. Now Jacki joins the conversation confirming that the killer is indeed not the same as in the UK version.

Talking to Hitfix during promotion for the new Woody Allen movie Magic In The Moonlight the actress said, "Gracepoint is quite different. The first few, couple of eps are the same but then there's new characters, there's a different villain, a different killer. So it is different but it takes a lot of the great production values from Broadchurch, which was wonderful."

Gracepoint explores the impact of the murder off a local boy on a sleepy coastal community in Northern California which then becomes the subject of a major police investigation and intense media frenzy. David Tennant and Anna Gunn star with Nick Nolte, Michael Pena, Virginia Kull and Kevin Zegers. The ten part event series premieres on Fox on Thursday 2nd October at 9pm/8c. It will also air on the Global Network in Canada and an announcement from ITV to confirm UK broadcast is expected soon.
