Gracepoint Picked Up For Broadcast In Spain



The ten-part murder mystery drama Gracepoint starring David Tennant and Anna Gunn has been picked up for pay-TV broadcast in Spain, it has been announced.

Shine International are launching the drama, a remake of the award-winning UK series Broadchurch, at this year's MIPCOM festival, the international market of audiovisual product, which officially begins tomorrow in Cannes. Spanish broadcaster Telefónica, owners of the Movistar España VoD service and Canal Plus have already snapped up the series which sees David Tennant reprising his role as the lead investigator in the murder of a young boy. 

Gracepoint is a joint production between Shine America, Kudos Film & TV and Imaginary Friends and was commissioned by Fox TV. Original series creator Chris Chibnall and Kudos executive Jane Featherstone are among the executive producers of the new show which will feature new plot twists and a different ending to Broadchurch. The series is currently airing in the USA, Canada and Australia, and a UK start date should be announced soon.

When the body of a twelve-year old boy is found on the beach near a small town in northern California a murder investigation begins which affects the whole community. As the town comes under increasing police and press scrutiny, fear and suspicion grow and long-held secrets start to emerge. In Gracepoint, anyone could be a suspect.
