The longlists have been announced and the vote is open for the National Television Awards 2017. David Tennant is one of the contenders in the Best Drama Performance category, nominated for his role as Alec Hardy in the third and final series of Broadchurch. The category has some strong competition with Suranne Jones for Doctor Foster, Emily Watson for Apple Tree Yard, Joanne Froggatt for Liar and Aidan Turner for Poldark also amongst the 60 candidates vying for the title.
Also, three of David's projects have made the longlists. Broadchurch, written by Chris Chibnall is up for Best Crime Drama and will compete against a group which includes Line Of Duty, The Missing and Little Boy Blue. The Classic BBC series 'The Tales of Para Handy' has finally been released on DVD. The Tales of Para Handy is a Scottish television series set in the western isles of Scotland in the 1930's.
Based on the Para Handy books by Neil Munro, this BBC series stars Gregor Fisher as Captain Peter Para Handy MacFarlane, and also stars Scottish favourites Rikki Fulton and Sean Scanlan.
The series follows the adventures of the crew of the Vital Spark, as it puffs around the coastal waters of West Scotland and follows the various schemes that Para Handy gets himself and his crew involved in.
The series features plenty of well known faces actors including David Tennant & Tony Curran.

David Tennant has been spotted on the set of Mary Queen Of Scots for the first time. Get Surrey took a sneaky snap of David, in make up, a long wig and full beard as he got ready to film scenes for the epic new Royal drama in Albury late last week.
The film, directed by Josie Rourke, follows the early life of Mary Stuart, played by Saoirse Ronan, and her relationship with Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie), her rival in power and love. Both were female regents in a male world; Mary, who became Queen of Scotland when six days old and Queen of France aged 16, was seen as a threat to Elizabeth's sovereignty when she mounted a claim to the English throne.
Other cast include Jack Lowden, Joe Alwyn, Gemma Chan, Martin Compston, Ismael Cordova, Brendan Coyle, Ian Hart, Adrian Lester, James McArdle and Guy Pearce. The film, a Working Title production, is currently shooting in locations across England and Scotland.

been released for the special charity Christmas celebration at Winchester
Cathedral which includes David Tennant and Olivia Colman amongst the
contributors. The event takes place on 7th December from 7.45pm in support of Breast
Cancer Haven in Titchfield and The Murray Parish Trust. David and Olivia are among a host of stars taking part in
the event; others include Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville, soprano Clare Rutter
and actor Timothy West CBE, with additional festive and magical performances
from local musical groups. The 200 newly released tickets will be located in the North
Nave Aisles of the cathedral, with some restricted view tickets also available.
