GRACEPOINT: Early Overnights Show Small Upturn In Figures

The Thursday night US TV early ratings are in  and they indicate that the ten part FOX TV series Gracepoint  has enjoyed a modest upturn in figures.

Episode 7 of the intense mystery drama starring David Tennant and Anna Gunn earned a 0.8/2 rating among adults aged 18-49, up just one tenth from the series low of 0.7 last week. Viewer numbers rose to 3.43 million, a 14% increase on last week. (Figures pending final adjustments).
UPDATE - final figures 0.8/2 18-49 adults rating, 3.49 million viewers.

Gracepoint opened to a rating of 1.2, dropping to 0.9 in its second week, then holding steady at 0.8 until last week. While there have been concerns about whether the show would be cancelled it now seems that, as a limited series, Fox will let it play for its remaining episodes at least.

David Tennant's tour of US talk and radio shows earlier this week and the trailing of scenes from the show that showed a clear divergence from the original UK series Broadchurch may both have played a part in the ratings rise. It is hoped that the show can build on this for the final three episodes and will not be affected by the break after Episode 8 for Thanksgiving. Gracepoint  has also been performing well in catch up viewings, particularly as it has been scheduled against some strong competition

The ratings winners for the 9pm slot last night were Scandal  (ABC, 3.2/9, 9.98 million) and Two And A Half Men (CBS, 2.2/7, 9.45 million).
