Today’s review of David Tennant’s projects during 2014 looks at July.
The premiere date for Gracepoint in the USA was set for 2nd October. As promotion for the series began in the US media. FOX TV released a clip of David talking about filming around Victoria, BC and how the area was a perfect setting for the drama. New cast portrait photos were also released. David and many other cast members attended the FOX TV TCA Summer Press Tour panel for Gracepoint in Beverley Hills. They talked about the differences and similarities between Gracepoint and Broadchurch, David’s accent and even hinted at a second season should the first do well.
A new promo clip for the series was also released.
Although not confirmed by the network, it was widely reported that ITV had acquired the rights to air Gracepoint in the UK, although they have yet to announce a channel and start date.
What We Did On Our Holiday
David and co-star Rosamund Pike revealed more about their characters in the upcoming BBC Films release. What We Did On Our Holiday was already being described as David’s ‘...best big screen performance to date.” Ben Miller, who plays David’s brother in the film, also had plenty of praise for him. A second trailer for the film was released.
At their TCA Summer Press Tour panel, BBC America announced that they would air the second series of Broadchurch early in 2015. It was hinted that the series could begin in the UK as early as January 2015.
Early samples of the Broadchurch novel by Erin Kelly were being sent out for review .
The Space Channel in Canada aired David’s interview with Teddy Wilson. During the interview, David talked about the legacy of playing the Doctor.
During the FOX TCA panel, David explained why he thought Peter Capaldi was the perfect choice to be the Twelfth Doctor
The first issues of the new Titans Comics Tenth and Eleventh Doctor comic book series were released worldwide.
The Politician’s Husband
The Politician’s Husband was added to Netflix in the USA, Canada, Scandinavia and the Netherlands. BBC First launched a microsite for the show ahead of their premiere screening during the new channel’s launch week.
David played Sir Walter Scott in adaptations of Ivanhoe and Redgauntlet for BBC Radio 4’s The Great Scott.
It was announced that David was to star in a new short film written and directed by Daisy Aitkens, wth the working title This Is True (later renamed 96 Ways To Say I Love You).
