David Tennant's Proclaimers Sleeve Notes Feature In New Lyrics Collection

The sleeve notes that David Tennant wrote for The Proclaimers' compilation album The Very Best Of 25 Years 1987-2012 are included in a new collection of the Scottish duo's song lyrics. The new book, The Proclaimers Lyrics 1987 - 2013, brings together song words from nine studio albums, totalling 124 full song lyrics spanning the band's career.

David Tennant has been a long time champion of the band, made up of twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid and has interviewed them on BBC Radio, introduced their set at the V Festival and included one of their songs on his music list for Desert Island Discs. In his sleeve notes, David recalls buying his first Proclaimers single.

"It didn't just live up to expectations but there and then, as I played it over and over again, I fell in love with this music and this odd, unstyled, unlikely duo with a passion that has never dimmed to this day," he says. "Nobody else sounds like the Proclaimers and nobody else writes songs like these."

The Proclaimers Lyrics: 1987-2013
Craig and Charlie Reid have written consistently wonderful words and music across their career to date. These songs are timeless, the lyrics capturing a gamut of human emotions, written with poignancy, honesty and humour.
Their songs feature at weddings, funerals and everything in-between and there is one song, an early celebration of falling head over heels in love that is known the world over and has become a staggering global anthem. There are many others that have gained great popularity in different parts of the planet and then there is a wide cross section of sublime songs embraced by a multitude that has kept up with The Proclaimers nine studio albums and compilation collections released between 1987 and 2013.

The book also includes a foreword by director Richard Curtis and the sleeve notes from The Best Of The Proclaimers written by Matt Lucas.

The book is released on Monday 8th December but is available to order now direct from publishers Coffee Table. International shipping is available.
