VOTE: David Tennant And Richard II Nominated In WhatsOnStage Awards



The shortlists for the 15th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards were revealed today at the awards Lunch, Cafe de Paris in London. The awards are unique in that they are the only ones decided upon wholly by the theatre going public, from nominations to final winners.

David Tennant received a nomination for Best Actor In A Play for his lead role performance in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Richard II at the Barbican Theatre in London. Other nominees in the category include Tom Hiddleston (Coriolanus), Tom Bateman (Shakespeare In Love), Mark Strong (A View From The \bridge) and Richard Armitage (The Crucible).  

Richard II is also nominated in the Best Play Revival Category, against Blythe Spirit, Coriolanus, The Crucible and A Streetcar Named Desire

The Royal Shakespeare Company's artistic director Gregory Doran is nominated for Best Direction for Richard II

The winners of the awards are decided by you, the fans.

Other nominations for other productions include Billie Piper and Gillian Anderson for Best Actress in a Play, Mark Gatiss as Best Supporting Actor and the RSC's Wolf Hall as Best New Play.
