David Tennant Still Talking To Bryan Fuller About A Hannibal Guest Role

David Tennant has confirmed that he's spoken to Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller about a guest role in the NBC show.

"It's a conversation that's been had a couple of times," David said, "I would love to work with Brian on anything - I think he's a rare talent- so it would be lovely if something worked out. But there's no immediate plans."

David originally auditioned for the role of the cannibalistic psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter in the TV show and although Fuller was greatly impressed with him, the part went instead to Mads Mikkelsen. Since then, Fuller has repeated many time him desire to have David involved in the show some way or another. "He would have made an amazing Hannibal, there's no doubt in my mind," he said following the season 1 launch. "David is such a fantastic actor that I would love him to come and do the show as a seriously deranged serial killer. That would be amazing."

Last year he revealed that plans were still afoot but David's schedule had made anything impossible.

"We had talked about David being a guest star in season two," he told Digital Spy. "Once again, it's a schedule issue. He was filming the American Broadchurch for our dates in season two, and he's also a very busy man, so it's about finding that window. I love David Tennant, I think he's a wonderful talent and I've been dying to work with him for many years now, so one way or another it's going to happen."

A third season of Hannibal starring Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy is currently in production.

David Tennant will next be seen on TV screens in Broadchurch which returns for a new series on Monday 5th January on ITV in the UK.
