VIDEO: David Tennant Receives The Special Recognition Award At The 2015 National Television Awards

David Tennant was absolutely stunned tonight to be awarded the prestigious Special Recognition Award at the 2015 National Television Awards this evening.

The award is presented annually to a recipient who is totally in the dark that they are to be honoured, even though friends, family and colleagues know in advance and record messages to be played at the ceremony. David received plaudits from Olivia Colman, Richard Wilson, Billie Piper, Catherine Tate and Russell T. Davies. His father Sandy McDonald also said, "David, in all he does makes the world a better place...but then, as you must realise, I'm his dad."

Realisation slowly grew for David as a musical clue - I Would Walk 500 Miles - was performed, first by Pixie Lott and then by his favourite band, The Proclaimers.
