Broadchurch Ratings Boost As A Million Extra Viewers Switch On

Broadchurch ratings were given a significant boot last night as 6.2 million viewers (including +1) switched on for episode six, a 27.3% of the audience share for the timeslot. This was almost a million up on the 5.3m watching last week.

The increase was partly down to the absence of Silent Witness on BBC One, the show's main competitor which came to an end last week. New Tricks, now airing in its place, managed to win over 3.2m (14%). Channel 5's Benefits Britain: Life On The Dole was watched by 2.2m (9.8%), beating a pair of cookery shows: BBC Two's A Cook Abroad (1.6m / 7.1%) and Heston's Recipe For Romance  on Channel 4 (1m / 4.3%).

The equivalent episode for series 1 of Broadchurch, airing on Monday 8th April 2013 was watched by 6.6 million viewers (including +1), representing a 25.7% audience share.

Broadchurch continues with episode 7 on Monday 16th February on ITV.
