David Tennant Featured On Comic Relief Red Plaque

Comic Relief have launched their Red Plaques project  to recognise the vital work of local charities and a quote from David Tennant will be featured on one of them.

More than 2,100 charities across the UK will receive one of the brand new plaques in recognition of their work.

Round and red, in an echo of the iconic Red Nose, the plaques aim to show how money raised by the public over the past 30 years is changing lives in towns and cities around the country.

The Comic Relief Red Plaques recognise the vital work of local charities and volunteers and each one features a quote from a famous supporter, and alongside David these include Billy Connelly and Davina McCall.

David's plaque features a quote from him from 2011 "How can you not want a society in which everyone has a chance?"

In total, more than 16,800 UK projects have received funding since Comic Relief began in 1988. That means that wherever someone lives in the UK they are likely to be within 30 miles of a funded organisation.

Writing to charities receiving the Red Plaques, Comic Relief Trustee Lenny Henry OBE said: “One of the things that makes me most proud about being part of Comic Relief is the brilliant work that projects like yours do to help people living really tough lives here in the UK.

“To celebrate our partnership, we’ve created this plaque for you to display. It shows the world just how proud we are of you and lets local people know that lives are being transformed right on their doorstep.”

Comic Relief spends the money raised through Red Nose Day to help people living incredibly tough lives both here in the rest of the UK, and across Africa.

David is currently supporting Comic Relief's Red Nose Day 'Make Your Face Funny For Money' campaign.
