GERMANY: ZDF To Air Broadchurch Series 1 This Spring

Good news for German fans - broadcaster ZDF has obtained the rights to air the long-awaited first series of Broadchurch.

The right to air the series was originally obtained by ProSiebenSat.1 in the summer of 2013, shortly after the series had made its much acclaimed debut on ITV in the UK. However, although the network aired the drama starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman on Austrian channel Puls 4 in 2014, it has never been shown in Germany.

Regina Henrich-Dieler of ZDF confirmed in a statement that the network intends to show the newly acquired first series of Broadchurch in the spring. There is no mention yet of whether they have also bought up the second series, currently airing in the UK.
