The What's On Stage Awards Announced Tonight - David Tennant & Richard II Nominated



The winners of this year's What's On Stage Awards will be announced this evening at a ceremony at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London.

David Tennant received a nomination for Best Actor In A Play for his lead role performance in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Richard II at the Barbican Theatre in London. Other nominees in the category include Tom Hiddleston (Coriolanus), Tom Bateman (Shakespeare In Love), Mark Strong (A View From The Bridge) and Richard Armitage (The Crucible).  

Richard II is also nominated in the Best Play Revival Category, against Blythe Spirit, Coriolanus, The Crucible and A Streetcar Named Desire. 

The Royal Shakespeare Company's artistic director Gregory Doran is nominated for Best Direction for Richard II. 

David will not be attending the ceremony as he is currently in New York to film his new Netflix series A.K.A Jessica Jones.
