GERMANY: Broadchurch Season 1 Premieres On ZDF In April

It's been a long wait for German viewers but at last it's arrived. The original series of Broadchurch starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman arrives on TV in Germany on ZDF in April.

The series, which premiered on ITV in the UK in 2013 follows events in a small English seaside town that is torn apart when a local boy is found murdered on the beach. David Tennant plays policeman Alec Hardy, the town's newly arrived detective inspector, who is paired with his local colleague DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) in the hunt for the boy's killer. But under the increased scrutiny of the police and the press, the long-held secrets of the residents of Broadchurch bubble to the surface and soon it seems as if anyone could be guilty. And even Alec Hardy has something to hide.

The series was recently acquired by ZDF after ProSiebenSat.1 bought the drama but never aired it on German TV. It is thought that they may also be looking at the second season which has just aired in the UK.

Watch Broadchurch Season 1 in April on ZDF, airing on Sunday nights at 22:00.
