VIDEO: Marvel Release New Daredevil Clip While Mike Colter Talks Luke Cage

The secrecy machine around the new Netflix series Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones is in full lockdown meaning that there has been no news and few images emerging from the shoot in New York, and certainly no sightings of David Tennant who is playing supervillain The Purple Man.

However, Marvel have given a taste of what to expect with the release of a new clip from the first of the four planned adaptations, Daredevil. The series stars Charlie Cox as blind lawyer Matt Murdock whose superpowers give him the means to deal with the villains that slip through the legal system. Vincent D'Onofrio co-stars as Kingpin. The whole series of Daredevil will be released on Netflix in the USA and UK on April 10th and it will be followed in due course by A.K.A Jessica Jones, Nick Cage and Iron Fist.

The New York Observer say of the new series:
"I know it’s still early in the year, but I’m calling it now: The most beautifully choreographed fight scenes of 2015 will be on Netflix, courtesy of Marvel’s Daredevil. We’ve seen the first four episodes, and this show is like no other comic book adaption on the small screen yet. The beauty of Netflix is the freedom it allows—Daredevil gets as dark as the source material requires. It’s so dark, it’s almost a better Batman show than Gotham, and that show actually has Batman in it. If nothing else, Daredevil will rule the comic book TV landscape for years to come."

The second of the interlocking adaptations, Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones is currently shooting in New York for release on Netflix later this year. The series is an adaptation of the Alias series of comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos and follows Jessica Jones, a retired superhero who has opened her own detective agency in New York City. Alongside David Tennant, whose character is a shady figure from Jessica's past, the thirteen part series stars Krysten Ritter in the lead role with Mike Colter as her love interest Nick Cage. Colter is set to appear in his own Nick Cage series in 2016 and has spoken recently about the cine-noir and adult-orientated themes that the small-screen adaptations will have.

"It's geared towards an adult audience, which is something that will be different from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that you've seen before on the big screen,” he said in an interview with IGN on the subject of the upcoming Nick Cage series. “They're very detailed, gritty; the world they've written in the comic books is very clear. Marvel does a fantastic job about bringing human stories – because you're telling big stories with a heart at the centre of it – and that's what connects all of the characters to our audience members. Audience members have to feel connected with these characters, to make them relate to the character's situations and that's what you see with all of the Marvel characters.

A.K.A Jessica Jones will arrive on Netflix USA and UK later this year.
