Today's Throwback Thursday takes a look back to early 2014 and the filming of Gracepoint on Vancouver Island, Canada.

David Tennant reprised his lead role in the American remake of the drama phenomenon Broadchurch. The new production for FOX TV was given the blessing of original series creator Chris Chibnall, who also executive produced and wrote the first episode. Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein were announced as executive producers along with John Goldwyn, while UK series directors James Strong and Euros Lyn also joined the production team.

The show revolves around the hunt for the killer of a young boy in a small coastal town in California, and additionally explores the impact of the event on the victim's family and the wider community. The series was expanded to ten episodes from the original eight of Broadchurch which allowed for the introduction of new plot twists and new characters. Most importantly, the producers promised a different killer.

Gracepoint premiered on FOX TV in the USA from October 2014 but up against Thursday Night Football and the ratings-topping drama Scandal it struggled to attract viewers. Although marketed as an event series, there was a possibility that the show could returning for a full second season were it successful; however it was eventually decided to take it no further than the initial ten episodes.

Gracepoint is currently airing on ITV Encore in the UK on Wednesday nights at 10pm BST.
