David Tennant On Marvel's Jessica Jones Comics: 'A Fantastic Series'

David Tennant revealed that he had never read the comic books behind his new Netflix series, Marvel's A.K.A Jessica Jones, but would now definitely recommend them.

The upcoming thirteen part series is based on the Marvel Alias comics by Brian Michael Bendis and adapted by Melissa Rosenberg. The darkly themed story follows a former superhero, Jessica Jones, who hangs up her cape after a traumatic event in her life and instead opens a detective agency in Hell Kitchen. However, the demons of her past continue to haunt her. Breaking Bad star Krysten Ritter plays the titular Jones while David plays Kilgrave, a dark figure from her past.

David was asked during today's guest panel at Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia whether he was familiar with the source material before he was cast. He replied that he has since read the series and says that the themes are definitely not child-friendly. However he remained cautious on letting slip which material will make the series.

"It's very much for an older readership," he said. "I'm not going to comment on specific storylines in case it gets cross-referenced and I get into trouble. They've very much inspired what we're doing."

Marvel's A.K.A Jessica Jones also stars Mike Colter, Carrie-Anne Moss and Rachael Taylor. The series will be released on Netflix this winter, following the already successful release of Marvel's Daredevil last month. Also planned are adaptations of Luke Cage and Iron Fist and a Defenders miniseries.
