Celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday With David Tennant And The RSC

Further details of how to attend the special show that David Tennant will be presenting in April next year to celebrate William Shakespeare's birthday, in what will be the 400 year anniversary of his death, have been revealed.

David will host a variety bill inspired by Shakespeare and performed by major international talent, that will celebrate Shakespeare's enduring influence on all the performing art forms from opera to jazz, from ballet to musicals. The evening is being directed by Gregory Doran and produced for television by John Wyver, the Director of RSC Screen Productions.

The Shakespeare Show will be broadcast live on BBC Two from The Royal Shakespeare Theatre on the evening of Saturday 23rd April 2016. Owing to the live filming this event is not ticketed, but there will be a ballot for a chance to attend, details of which will be announced in the New Year.

Stratford-upon-Avon will come together to celebrate its most famous son with a breathtaking acrobatic performance inspired by Shakespeare's stories on the Bancroft Gardens, alongside the traditional pageantry and family activities. The day will end with a spectacular free fireworks display for all.
