VIDEO: ITV's 60th Anniversary - Take A Look Back At David Tennant's Roles

ITV celebrates its 60th Anniversary today, born on September 22nd 1955, and the channel has been celebrating with a raft of special programming, including a live episode of Coronation Street to be broadcast tomorrow.

Many of the UK's biggest stars have appeared in ITV programming over the last six decades and that, of course, includes David Tennant.

In fact, David's first ever TV appearance was in 1998 on the longrunning children's series Dramarama. David, then aged 17, played Neil McDonald in the episode The Secret Of Croftmore, a ghost story set in the Scottish Highlands.

In 1995, David starred as Steve Clemens in a feature length episode of The Bill, the suspect in the hunt for a missing girl.

The gentle 1998 sitcom Duck Patrol only lasted for one series but David's character, the nerdy but loveable PC Simon 'Darwin' Brown is still a fan favourite!

David popped up in wartime police series Foyle's War in 2002. He played Theo, a conscientious objector in an episode that boasted an all star cast that also included guest appearances by Oliver Ford Davies, Sophia Myles and Danny Dyer.

In 2005, Doctor Who fans were eagerly anticipating David's first full episode as the Doctor in the show's Christmas special. Before that, however, he was scaring the life out of everybody as the sociopathic Brendan Block in the two-part thriller Secret Smile. Engagement parties will never be the same again...

In recent years, David has become recognised internationally for his award-winning performance as prickly detective Alec Hardy in Chris Chibnall's crime drama Broadchurch. The series has been broadcast all around the world since its premiere in 2013 and has inspired remakes, Malaterra in France and also Gracepoint in the USA - in which David starred! Broadchurch will return for a third series which goes into production next year

Happy Birthday, ITV, and here's to the next 60 years!
