Peter And The Wolf was first composed by Prokofiev in 1936 as an introduction for children to the instruments of the orchestra. The new version was commissioned and performed in 2012 with the aim of recording allowing listeners to explore the sounds of a big band, along with the history of jazz and improvisation through its evolution and its various genres. The classic big band line up is given the additions of a flute and a tuba to give all of the characters their voice.
