Schedule Confirmed For RSC Shakespeare On Screen Film Season - Includes David Tennant's Hamlet

Back in June we told you that the Royal Shakespeare Company would be curating a short season of Shakespearean films at the Barbican Theatre in London, including the 2009 production of Hamlet starring David Tennant. The season, Shakespeare On Screen, runs alongside the RSC's much anticipated Great Cycle Of Kings which sees David reprise his award-winning performance as the King in Richard II.

Hamlet will screen at 2pm on Sunday 31st January 2016.

The screen version of the RSC production of Hamlet (2008-9) was filmed on location with the original stage cast and captures the atmosphere and excitement of the orginal stage production. David Tennant reprises his thrilling, mercurial and often very funny central performance alongside the Patrick Stewart as Claudius, King of Denmark. Penny Downie plays Hamlet’s mother Gertrude and Mariah Gale is the tragic Ophelia. Edward Bennett is Ophelia’s avenging brother Laertes, and Oliver Ford Davies takes the role of their father Polonius.
