UK: Harry Potter Franchise Gets Its Own Sky Movies Channel



Harry Potter fans are in for a treat in the UK as the blockbusting series of films gets its own dedicated channel on Sky Movies.

For just over a week, from Saturday 24th October until Monday 2nd November, Sky will be temporarily renaming their Sky Movies Greats channel as Sky Movies Harry Potter and screening all eight magical masterpieces, including Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, co-starring David Tennant. 

The move is partly to announce Sky obtaining streaming rights for the Harry Potter franchise in the UK, but also to launch a year of celebrations : 2016 will mark the fifteenth anniversary of the release of the first movie. The series of films, based on the novels by J.K. Rowling, have topped box office charts all round the world and made international stars of young actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. 

In addition to showing the films, Sky Movies Harry Potter will also be screening cast interviews, documentaries and behind-the-scenes featurettes. Extended cuts of The Philosopher's Stone and The Chamber Of Secrets will also be screened.
