David Tennant Compares The Beatles To Shakespeare In Tonight's ITV Musical Extravaganza

Tonight David Tennant will be guest starring on a new ITV show to celebrate the number one hits of 1960's super group The Beatles. The two-hour documentary, entitled The Nation's Favourite Beatles Number One, will feature interviews from other musicians, friends and celebrity fans of The Beatles, who will recount their memories of Britain's most successful band.

And David will reveal why he is such an admirer of the Fab Four from Liverpool telling viewers that the lads  “were magic for nearly a decade”

Speaking about the early days of the band, David says: “There’s just something so infectious about seeing them, particularly in those early days, it just looks like they’re enjoying every moment.

David who is famous for being an award winning Shakespearean actor also compares them to them to the Bard, saying that they are a key part of British culture.
“The Beatles are the Shakespeare of popular music,” he says. “There’s a quality and a longevity to what they did that will outlast all of them and all of us.”

The Nation's Favourite Beatles Number One will air on ITV this evening from 8pm.
