JESSICA JONES: David Tennant Discusses Kilgrave's Future (SPOILERS!)
David Tennant has looked ahead to the future for his character Kilgrave in Marvel's Jessica Jones, the latest comic book adaptation to hit Netflix.
David was talking to The Hollywood Reporter about the show which follows the fortunes of a retired superhero, the titular Jessica, played by Krysten Ritter. Jessica is laying low following a personal trauma, but when Kilgrave, her former tormentor, reappears she needs to take action before anyone else gets hurt.
David's comments contain spoilers for the series so beware if you intend to read on below!
Viewers who have seen to the end of the series will now be aware of Kilgrave's fate at Jessica's hands. Although many are hoping that Marvel will come up with a way of bringing the character back, David himself has said that he doubts that this will happen.
"I was only looking to do one [season], so I didn't quite know where it was going to end up," he explains. "But it wasn't a massive surprise for me. I knew I wouldn't come back for [season] two. Whether that meant I was going to be locked up in jail or dead, you never quite know with shows set in these worlds. But it was a perfect story arc. It was all about Jessica empowering herself and taking control and literally slaying her demons. It would have been unsatisfying if it didn't end with Kilgrave being put out of action."
"I would never even try to guess what they have planned for a second season, if there even will be a second season," he adds. "I don't think I'll have a central part to play because what is interesting now is where Jessica goes after Kilgrave. But I'm totally in the dark."
Marvel's Jessica Jones is available to stream on Netflix now.
