VIDEO - David Tennant & Celebrity Fans Praise Billy Connolly At The NTAs

David Tennant was among a host of former colleagues and celebrity fans contributing to a tribute video in honour of Billy Connolly at this year's National Television Awards.

Multi-talented comedian, writer, actor and musician Billy was singled out as the recipient of the 2016 Special Recognition Award, the same honour that was presented to David himself in 2015. Billy and David appeared on screen together as father and son Gordie and Doug McLeod in the 2014 black comedy What We Did On Our Holiday.

"He's got a timing and an insight and a joy about him," said David. "And those three things combine to create something very special."

Other contributors to the clip included Dame Judi Dench, Peter Kay, Eric Idle and Sir Elton John, while the award was presented by Dustin Hoffman.
