CANADA: Bell Media Wins Exclusive Doctor Who Deal For TV & Streaming Broadcast

Canada's Bell TV has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide allowing the network to continue to be the sole broadcaster of Doctor Who across Canada on their cable channel Space.

The deal also allows Bell to have the exclusive streaming rights to Doctor Who via their own streaming service CraveTV. Season 9 will be streamed later this year and new episodes will appear following their cable premieres on Space. Earlier seasons have been on Crave TV since its launch but will soon only be available through the service.

Matt Forde of BBC Worldwide said that Doctor Who is BBC Worldwide's strongest show in Canada thanks to Bell's handling of the series. "They cherish it and look after it, " he said.
