David Tennant Provides Foreword For New Circle Charity Book

David Tennant has recently provided the foreword to a new book created by families supported by Scottish charity Circle. The charity works at the heart of deprived communities across central Scotland and aims to support the most disadvantaged and difficult-to-engage children and families, to improve their lives, to promote their healthy potential and development and to build their resilience.

David, who is one of the charity’s patrons, was delighted to provide the foreword to ‘The Alien Assignment’, a book created by families supported by Circle’s Edinburgh-based Haven Project. In the summer of 2015 the project staff visited different locations in Edinburgh with parents and their children, collecting ideas, objects and inspiration for their story. Children’s author Mike Nicholson led the creative session forming the main body of the story. ‘The Alien Assignment’ is the third in the series produced alongside Circle’s Haven Project families.

David Tennant says in the foreword: “Some of my earliest memories are of being tucked up in bed while mum or dad read to me. Books and stories can bring parents and children together in a very special way. The fantastic work Circle does is all about strengthening and protecting families. This book, and the way it was created, celebrates that and maybe it can create some brand new memories for your kids.”

The Haven Project, based within Craigroyston Primary School, provides support to children and families living in the local area to improve the general well-being of the whole family. It offers support to families with young children, parenting groups for mums and dads and parents to be, tailored support for dads and activities for dads and their children, and support to improve education in partnership with local primary schools and other organisations.

If you want to get hold of a copy of the book Circle are happy to post copies of the book to buyers within the UK. They able to email a PDF to buyers outside the UK.
