David Tennant And Catherine Tate On Time Reaver A Brand New Doctor Who Adventure

Calibris. The spaceport planet where anything goes. Where anyone who doesn't want to be found can be lost, and where everything has its price. Where betentacled gangster Gully holds sway at the smugglers’ tavern, Vagabond’s Reach.
The alien Vacintians are trying to impose some order on the chaos. Soon the Doctor and Donna discover why. An illegal weapon is loose on the streets. A weapon that destroys lives… Slowly and agonisingly.

"A lot of this is set on a noisy planet," explains David Tennant, "so a lot of the time, it's just being told what level to shout at, really. So much of that is done afterwards, and you've no idea how much they're going to put underneath. They might stitch us up! When you're doing TV things, in like a nightclub, they always go 'Oh the music will be really loud, so make sure you're shouting all the way through.' I always do exactly what I'm told, and all the other actors just mumble, and then of course you see the finished thing, and - "
"The music is no less than a hum!" nods Catherine Tate.
"There you are shouting your head off, while everyone else is just talking normally, and you look a prize chump. Hopefully they won't stitch us up on this laughs David.

The Time Reaver of the title is "a sort of terrible weapon" explains David, "but it was never meant to be a weapon, and it's been slightly appropriated by less moral types."
"It's a very interesting take on it" agrees Catherine, "because it could be used for good, but it's been modified".

There's also an unexpected glimpse at the secret life of the TARDIS in scene 16 when the Doctor suggests he's been to Sugar Hut - the Brentwood nightclub made famous by the reality TV series The Only Way Is Essex.
"Yes he does imply that" smiles David. " I don't know. Sometimes the Doctor lies..."
