Stream Richard II Starring David Tennant Worldwide On Shakespeare Day Live

The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Richard II starring David Tennant will be made available to stream live via the BBC at the climax of the William Shakespeare 400th Anniversary celebrations on Saturday 23rd April. The play was recorded live from the stage of the Royal Shakespeare Company on 13th November 2013 and now will be available to view over the Shakespeare 400 weekend on Shakespeare Day Live, a special pop-up digital channel curated by the BBC and the British Council.

And there's great news for fans outside the UK - the live stream will be available to view wherever you are in the world! You'll be able to view content from BBC Shakespeare Day Live via the BBC website when the channel launches on 22nd April - we'll post the links as soon as we have them.

The sell-out production also starred Nigel Lindsay, Oliver Ford Davies, Jane Lapotaire and Michael Pennington. David is currently reprising his award-winning performance in New York as part of the King & Country Great Cycle of Kings.

Shakespeare Lives is a 6-month long online festival of performances, analysis, talks and fun, made available to audiences in the UK and across the globe.

Richard II will be released to stream live on Saturday 23rd April from 10.30pm BST in a Shakespeare Lives exclusive.

Shakespeare Day Live will be streaming a packed menu of Shakespearean delights from Friday 22nd April with contributions from the BFI, the Hay Festival, the Globe Theatre, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Royal Opera House and, of course, the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Earlier in the evening, David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be co-hosting Shakespeare Live! From The RSC, a two-hour celebration of all things Shakespearean, airing on BBC Two from 8.30-10.30pm BST.
