BREAKING NEWS: David Tennant To Play Crowley In Good Omens TV Series

David Tennant has been announced as the demon Crowley in the TV adaptation of Good Omens, the much-loved novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett. David will star opposite Michael Sheen who takes on the role of the angel Aziraphale. The highly anticipated adaptation will be co-produced by BBC Studios with Narrativia, the production company of Pratchett’s daughter Rhianna, and the Blank Corporation, in association with BBC Worldwide for Amazon Prime Video and the BBC.

The six-part comedy drama Good Omens will be set in 2018 on the edge of the apocalypse. An angel and a demon have been living on earth for centuries in an uneasy truce, and have become quite fond of their existence among humanity. Therefore, they're not too enthusiastic about the end of the world. Louche demon Crowley and fussy angel Aziraphale could probably stop it...if only they hadn't mislaid the Antichrist...

Michael Sheen told Variety: "I first read ‘Good Omens’ as a teenager and it’s been one of my favourite stories ever since. To be part of the team entrusted with bringing it alive on screen is a bit of a dream come true to be honest. To work alongside Neil, who I think is one of the greatest storytellers of all time, is incredibly exciting. And, just like the rest of the world, I’m a huge fan of David’s so I relish trying to save it with him."

David told the BBC, “Michael Sheen, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, it’s a dream team and a dream gig. I am very excited that I’ve been asked to be part of this amazing project. Bring on the Apocalypse!”

Neil Gaiman has adapted the six part series from the 1990 novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, and will act as showrunner; he will also executive produce with Caroline Skinner, and Chris Sussman for BBC Studios, and Rob Wilkins and Rod Brown will executive produce for Narrativia. The series will launch exclusively on Amazon Prime and will also be broadcast on BBC Two in the UK. BBC Worldwide will handle distribution in territories where Prime does not operate.

Filming will start later this summer. The majority of the shoot will take place in the UK with around a month in South Africa at the end of the shoot.
The series will drop in 2018.
