GOOD OMENS: New Cast Announcements Following First Cast Read Through
With only days to go before cameras roll, Neil Gaiman has revealed some of the other cast members taking part in the BBC and Amazon co-production of Good Omens. The six-part comic fantasy has been adapted by Neil from the novel of the same name that he co-authored with the late Terry Pratchett. David Tennant and Michael Sheen have already been announced in the roles of demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale respectively.
The series has found its Anathema Device in Emerald City star Adria Arjona. The key character is a descendant of the witch Agnes Nutter and the keeper of the only surviving copy of her ancestor's book of prophecies.
Nina Sosanya (Casanova, W1A) has been cast as Sister Mary Loquacious, a nun of the Chattering Order of St Beryl. Nina has worked with David Tennant previously in a number of projects on stage and screen and they will next be seen together in the feature film You, Me And Him, due out later this year.
Irish actor Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders, Versailles) will play the demon Hastur, a Duke of Hell usually seen with his fellow Duke Ligur, played by Ariyon Bakare (Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Thirteen).
Although not named by Neil himself, US actor Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap, Better Call Saul) also revealed his own involvement in the project, as Sergeant Shadwell, the last surviving officer of the Witchfinder Army and neighbour of Madame Tracy.
Good Omens begins shooting next week and will air on BBC Two in 2019 following its international premiere on Amazon. The series is co-produced by BBC Studios, Narrativia, the company set up by Terry Pratchett and now run by his daughter Rhianna with Rob Wilkins and Rod Brown, and Neil Gaiman's Blank Corporation in association with BBC Worldwide. Douglas Mackinnon will direct and Executive Produce.
