More Good Omens Cast Confirmed: Jack Whitehall & Miranda Richardson Take Key Roles

The BBC has revealed yet more cast members for the six-part TV adaptation of Good Omens, the comic apocalyptic novel by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett. The series has been written by Neil Gaiman and stars David Tennant as Crowley, 'Hell's most approachable demon', and Michael Sheen as his counterpart, the fussy angel and rare book dealer Aziraphale.

Jack Whitehall (Fresh Meat, Bad Education) is now confirmed as Newton 'Newt' Pulsifer, a former clerk who finds himself recruited as a new Witchfinder Private in the fight against the forces of darkness. Jack said of his casting, "I feel extraordinarily privileged to have been asked to play this part and cannot wait to get started."

Newt's commanding officer is Witchfinder Sergeant Shadwell, played by Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap, Better Call Saul), who revealed his own role yesterday. Michael said, "I’m thrilled to join this amazing cast and creative team. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather enjoy Armageddon with than Gaiman, Pratchett, Mackinnon and company.”

Miranda Richardson (Blackadder II, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire) will play Madame Tracy, psychic medium and part time courtesan, who becomes a surprise participant in the battle of Good versus Evil.

As previously announced, the cast also includes Adria Arjona (Anathema Device), Nina Sosanya (Sister Mary Loquacious) , Ned Dennehy (Hastur) and Ariyon Bakare (Ligur).

Good Omens is being produced by the comedy team at BBC Studios, Narrativia and The Blank Corporation, in association with BBC Worldwide. The series will be brought to the screen by the highly acclaimed director Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who, Outlander, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride). It will launch globally on Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories in 2019 including in the UK, where it will also air on BBC Two at a later date. BBC Worldwide distributes rights for Good Omens internationally, after the series premiere on Prime Video.
