Nick Offerman Joins The Cast Of Good Omens
It has been announced today that Nick Offerman is the latest star to sign up for Good Omens. Nick will take on the role of the U.S. Ambassador and father of the child Warlock in the series, who is mistakenly believed to be the Antichrist. Nick is perhaps best known for NBC comedy Parks and Recreation and also stars in Hearts Beat Loud which was screened at the Sundance Film Festival this year.
Commenting on the casting, showrunner Neil Gaiman says: "There may not be anyone alive who can deadpan a line quite as well as Nick Offerman. He's a terrific performer, and has to say a lot of things in Good Omens that are humanly impossible to deliver with a straight face. Fortunately, Nick is not entirely human. We are very lucky to have him."
Nick Offerman added: "If you had told me when I first read Good Omens in the early 90s that I would one day visit South Africa to giggle with Neil Gaiman at laptop-screened footage of Doctor Who and David Frost dancing because I was assaying a role in the adaptation of said book, I would likely have offered to purchase some of whatever you must be smoking. But here I am, still giggling at the luck of it."
The six part BBC and Amazon Prime adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's book, already boasts an impressive cast headed by David Tennant as Crowley, 'Hell's most approachable demon', and Michael Sheen as his counterpart, the fussy angel and rare book dealer Aziraphale.
David recently wrapped his scenes on the production in Cape Town, having filmed scenes in London, and Oxfordshire throughout late 2017.
Good Omens is a co-production by the comedy team at BBC Studios, the BBC’s commercial production arm, Narrativia and The Blank Corporation, in association with BBC Worldwide for Amazon Prime Video and BBC Two. The series will launch globally on Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories in 2019 including in the UK, where it will also air on BBC Two at a later date. BBC Worldwide will distribute rights for Good Omens internationally, after the series premiere on Prime Video.
