AMERICONS: Kayleigh Llewellyn Joins Catherine Tate To Write New Sky One Comedy

Rising writing star and Drama Studio London graduate Kayleigh Llewellyn is teaming up with Catherine Tate to script the comedy series Americons. Catherine is set to star alongside David Tennant in the new Sky One show which will be produced by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardener's production company Bad Wolf.

Kayleigh was the winner of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Comedy Writing award in 2012 with Matthew Barry and has been named as a Broadcast Hot Shot. In 2016 she was selected as one of six LGBTQ filmmakers for the BFI Flare Mentorship Programme. She has writing credits for Sky series Stella, CBBC's The Dumping Ground and BBC One's Casualty, and her own original comedy In My Skin is in production for BBC Three and BBC Wales. Kayleigh also wrote and starred in the multi-award winning short film Oh-Be-Joyful.

Little information has been released about Americons so far but is thought to be in the advanced stages of development and will follow a couple, played by David and Catherine, as they move to America.
David and Catherine first starred together in Doctor Who as the Tenth Doctor and his companion Donna Noble and have gone on to work together in Much Ado About Nothing in London's West End in 2011. Recently they have respectively voiced Scrooge McDuck and Magica De Spell in Disney's reboot of DuckTales, and are due to return to the Big Finish recording studios this year to reprise the roles of the Doctor and Donna in a new set of audio adventures.
