The Making Of The Highway Rat Event At Manchester Animation Festival


Next month's Manchester Animation Festival will be hosting a special event that takes a look at the making of The Highway Rat.
Go behind the scenes of the award-winning and charming children’s television special which  has thrilled family audiences around the world and was a ratings hit for BBC One when it was shown on Christmas Day last year.
David Tennant gives voice to the ravenous rodent in a 30-minute adaptation of the enchanting picture book by Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler.
The Highway Rat also features the voices of Rob Brydon, Nina Sosanya, Tom Hollander and Frances de la Tour and is produced by Magic Light Pictures, the team behind other Donaldson and Scheffler adaptations The Gruffalo, Stick Man and Room On The Broom. First published in 2011, The Highway Rat is about a ravenous rat who craves buns, biscuits and all sweet things. Tearing along the highway, he searches for sugary treats to steal, until his sweet tooth leads him to a sticky end. The whole family will enjoy this swashbuckling tale of bandits and biscuits!
Director Jeroen Jaspaert will take you behind the scenes for a making of this much loved modern-day television classic and discover how the rat of the highway came to be!
